LAST ITEM HELD MATCHING THIS TITLE STATED:

London L.C.A. Jullien. April 1843. With a monochrome lithograph unsigned but printed by Chabot of Snow Hill, of a frame of oak leaves and acorns and with the titles in the larger section and in the lower smaller section a view of two British Navy ships at anchor and a row boat of sailors moving towards one ship. This is a remarkable piece because the Neighbour and Tyson lists commence in May 1843, for Jullien, with number 2 and the number on the bottom of each page of this copy Number 1. So it is likely that this English Quadrille is the first published work by the Jullien Company. Certainly he has unusually entitled the publisher L.C.A. Jullien. Louis Jullien(1812-60) was a remarkable showman, composer, publisher, concert organiser who dominated music in the 1840's to the late 1850's.He mounted the concerts and wrote the music and published it,first at Drury Lane and then at the Zoological Gardens. Sadly he lost all his wealth and died a pauper in France. Folio size with music. Condition VG
