Chapter xii "On the Origin of Force" has pencil annotations reputedly by John Ruskin as attested on first blank page. This tends to indicate that Ruskin read, annotated and presented the book to recipient of letter. Book covers volcanoes, earthquakes, comets, the sun, weather celestial measurings and weights, light, atoms, the estimation in target shooting [archery] and more.
