The house is in Ocean Grove Double Bay. Some of the owners were William Thurlow, Sydney Mayor, Thomas Mort a wool broker, Grace Robinson who became Sydney University's first female medical graduate. Characters like artist Conrad Martens, judge Sir Roger Therry, architects Edmund Blacket and John Verge, botanists Michael and William Guilfoyle are also drawn into the narrative. 4to; pp. 160; frontispiece, 11 colour plates, numerous b/w. illustrations, notes, index; original yellow cloth, title lettered in gilt on spine, dustjacket, some flecking to top of page edges, a very good copy.
