She lectures on the history of old lace; her own collection has been exhibited by the National Trust, and she is an adviser to the Exeter Museum on their permanent lace exhibition. She is a former Committee member of the Costume Society, and she lives near Liskeard, Cornwall. Cynthia Voysey, who took the photographs for this book, is an authority on lace in her own right, having co-authored (with Pat Perryman) New Designs in Honiton Lace, and prepared two purely photographic books on lace. She has been making lace for 20 years, has been teaching the craft to others for much of that time, and is an assessor for the City and Guilds lace course examinations.
