Melbourne: Wren Publishing, 1975. Publishers original pictorial laminated cover. White endpapers, previous owners name on top of title page. 24pp. profusely illustrated with magnificent colour drawings by Rae Dale, pages clean and bright in firm binding. Jane lived on the edge of a big quite town, near a big green hill. In every street there were red, yellow and orange houses, all a little bit different from each other. At eight o'clock every morning all the fathers, all a little bit different from each other, came out and went to work. At half past eight all the children, all a little bit different from each other, came out and went to school. And at half past nine, all the mothers, all a little bit different from one another, came out and went shopping. Jane was often late for school; everyone said isn't she different from the other children. Jane sat in the classroom and dreamed about going to the moon, riding a horse, about the school burning down, she dreamed about the hill on the very edge of town, where dragons lived. At home, Jane stopped dreaming. One Monday morning Jane was running to the bus stop, a warm spicy wind seemed to blow invitingly. So she ran all the way down the road and up the hill. On the velvety green slopes she went wild, till she grew tired. She sat down to eat her lunch, when her sandwich flew out of her hand and over her shoulder. She looked behind and saw…….a dragon, one of three she was yet to meet. Jenny Pausacker finished her first novel when she was sixteen and got the world's kindest rejection letter, so she kept on writing. Eight years later her picture book The Three Dragons was accepted by a publisher who went out of business a few months later. Jenny then signed up for a PhD in children's literature while she tried to work out how to make a living by writing. She became a full-time writer in 1980 and has published sixty books for children and young adults over the last twenty years, including crime, science fiction, horror, romance and fantasy novels. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo.
