Browning and foxing to the top text block edge and lighter browning and foxing to the other text block edges. The free front end paper is missing. Browning and handling marks to the endpapers and light age toning of the internal text. Colour illustrated dustwrapper (wraparound) by Jas. E. McConnell with orange and white titles to the front panel and backstrip. Rubbing and chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the top backstrip edge. Rubbing to the other dustwrapper edges and fading to the backstrip. Clipping of the dustwrapper, front fold over, lower right-hand corner. Browning and foxing to the verso of the dustwrapper. Results of insect activity can be seen to the top quarter of the front panel. Black-and-white photograph of the author to the rear fold over panel. The biography of Denis James Ronan, the author's father, who at the age of 16, in the late 19th century, went adventuring to the then vast and unexplored northern regions of Australia. Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia. He ended up, at the time of his marriage, as the manager of one of the largest land holdings in Australia, if not the world, Victoria River Downs Estate in the Northern Territory.
