First printed in 1963, the story by the Melbourne bridge player, publisher, and feminist is of Jeff who lives in the centre of Australia, and tries to befriend and make pets of a baby camel. There is a 2 cm long blacking out of a name at the top of the front end page, a two inch tear at the top left of the rear panel, rubbing across the top edge of the jacket with associated creasing and a 1 inch tear at the top right of the front panel.
