Black-and-white photographic frontispiece, of Kathleen Ferrier taken at the Edinburgh Festival. The text is illustrated with another 49 black-and-white photographs within the text between pages 32 and 33 and between pages 64 and 65. Dull coloured red cloth boards with black insert to the backstrip and within that insert gilt titles. A little rubbing and minor bumping to the backstrip edges and to the book corners. Light browning and foxing to the text block edges. Some fading to the top edge of the book panels. Light browning, offset tanning and faint foxing to the endpapers and the internal text is very lightly aged tone. Black-and-white photographic dustwrapper, of Kathleen Ferrier, with a blue and white background, and white and black titles to the front panel and backstrip. A little rubbing and chipping to the top dust edges and backstrip edge. Rubbing to the dustwrapper panels and the rear dust but the panel also shows handling marks and a few stains. Clipping of the dustwrapper, front fold over, lower right-hand corner. Original bookseller's stamp to the lower left-hand corner of the front fold over panel.
