There is a previous owner's name on the front end page. Otherwise the book is in very good order being free of any annotations. Written nearly 40 years ago, the author argues against the favouring by governments and people of social orientation at the expense of individualism, which is sweeping us along a fated course traversed by other great cultures of history, who obtained reprieved only by barbarian infusions which had the effect of rejuvenating decaying civilisations because the nomadic life is more permissive of individualism than is the highly developed civilisation. In fact the author argues that modern American society is growing more hostile to individualism because of -- ironically -- the democracy which early American individualism fostered.. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Philosophy.
