LAST ITEM HELD MATCHING THIS TITLE STATED:

London: Houlston and Stoneman. [1851]. viii [engraved title, Preface, Index], 4-354pp, illustrated, 24pp appendix (The Tutor and his Pupils) - note that while the text begins on page 3, there is no indication that anything is missing (there is no printed title, but one would have thought that that would appear before the Preface). Full contemporary calf, title label and gilt rules on spine, blind rules on the boards, with the upper bearing in gilt 'High School of Hobart Town. Decr 1851'. Marbled edges and endpapers, small binder's label of G. Rolwegan of Hobart Town at top corner of front paste-down. A touch of light early foxing, otherwise clean. Very good. ISBN ***An early prize binding of The High School of Hobart Town (not to be confused with the later Hobart State High School), which was founded by prominent non-conformists in 1848 and operated until 1884. Its building later became the first home of the University of Tasmania, and is now known as Domain House. .
