Hull, Richard Smith . c 1881. With a brown lettered cover, with ornate ornamentation and printer's frame with titles inset. Described as a serenade . The lyric writer Radford S. Hart is sadly obscure. The composer/ singer Mel B. Spurr (1852-1904) made his first major London appearance at Maskelyne and Cooke's Home of Mystery at the Egyptian Hall as the entertainer part of the performance and where he sang his song of the Little Tin Soldier to considerable fame in 1894. In 1903, Spurr came to Australia for the impresario Herbert Fleming and sadly in 1904, after great success in Sydney, the comedian became ill and died in Melbourne. The publisher Smith of Hull is also obscure. There is a pencil date of 1881 on the back cover Folio size with music. Trimmed to lose the written dedication and a small water stain on signature else condition VG Rare & a signed copy in ink by Spurr top right.
