First hand account of an Australian airman's escape from a Turkish prison camp during WWI. White was one of the first four men in Australia to be trained as a pilot with the Australian Flying Corps, and he tells of his experiences before capture. Downed over Palestine on a daring sabotage mission, he and his companions were marched 100s of miles to a primitive prison camp in the middle of Turkey. Feigning illmess he had himself sent to a military hospital in Constantinople and managed to escape. He recounts his experiences as he made his way back to Allied forces.
