London: Batsford. 1900. Illustrated with perspective views drawn by Mr C.E. Mallows, and others, and also with numerous plans, sections and details of Gardens, and Garden Ornament, and further illustrated with chapter headings specially designed by Mr D. Chamberlain. 1st edition. 4to; xviii, 224pp, 198 illustrations, including a double-page frontis, 2 indexes, single leaf of publisher's adverts loosely inserted. Original green cloth, gilt decorations on spine (this slightly dulled) and upper board, extremities very slightly rubbed. Top edges gilt, others uncut. Endpapers a little potted, nice and clean inside. Very good. A very nice copy, and with an interesting association: an inscription on the ffep reads 'With Professor Flynn's compliments and kind regards'. (T.T. Flynn was the Ralston Professor of Biology at the University of Tasmania. His son Errol later achieved a measure of fame as a film actor.) ISBN .
