Murdoch of London published Volume 2 and also this combined edition, 1877 edition or maybe slightly later. hb, 30 x 21 cm., 422, 441 pp., col. plates, gilt decorated leather sides with brown cloth spine and burgundy title labels. Overall in very good condition. The book has been rebound into the original decorated leather boards and a new brown cloth spine has been used. The board edges are repaired with the same brown cloth. The titling is on burgundy cloth recessed into the spine. Tissues protecting the plates have been repaired where torn but some have pieces missing. There is some foxing associated with the tissues. This description almost reads like a disaster but the book is quite presentable and very usable although heavy. A photo is on my website. www.booklovers.com.au on the bookbinding page.
