London : Ward, Lock and Tyler no date c. 1870s hard cover, green embossed and cloth decorated in gilt, black and mauve,gilt to spine, all edges gilt, approx. viii + 465pp : book is assembled in sections thus : Riddles, etc- pp 1 to 152: Burlesques, pp 1 to 156 : Acting Charades-including Children's Plays and Extravaganza ( Proserpine ) pp 1 to 149, plus 8pp publisher's ads, 3 fold coloured frontispiece depicting a charade " Ye Brave Knights and Ye Ladye Fayre", other bw line illustrations throughout, book has discreet retirement village stamps to front and back prelims., one with a blue texta mark through it, a couple of minor stains to cloth, otherwise all in a very good clean and tight condition, pages clean and bright without foxing, a lovely copy of a rare item.
