Paris. Pagnerre 1855. 420pp. Very good. Quarter bound in dark green leather with marbled boards. Raised bands and marbled endpapers. Very slight foxing throughout. This was Redmond Barry's copy of this early edition, bearing his personal book-plate. Barry, widely regarded as the founder of the State Library of Victoria, emigrated to Australia from Ireland in 1839, practised law and became Solicitor General to the Colony of Victoria1853. He was the judge who sentenced the Australian bushranger, Ned Kelly,to death by hanging in 1880. Text in French. (Volume vi of the Complete Works).
