LAST ITEM HELD MATCHING THIS TITLE STATED:

London: Macmillan, 1985. 500 grammes; 182 pages, last 2 blank, introduction by authors, acknowledgements, bizarre index. The text is illustrated with black-and-white photographs, illustrations, facsimiles of pages and line drawings -- culled from books described within the text. Red coloured boards with gilt writing on the spine. Small gilt printers' cartouche to the lower spine edge. Bumping and rubbing to the head and to the heel of the spine and very minor shelfwear to the lower book edges. Browning to the paper edges. A few marks and very light foxing to the endpapers and internal pages are quite tanned, commensurate with paper used in production. Illustrated dustwrapper, by a cartoon using various books titles -- name visible is " Branx ", with white background and black and red writing on the front panel and spine. Black printers' cartouche to the lower spine edge. Rubbing to the dustwrapper corners and to the head and to the heel of the spine. A little creasing has also occurred. The white of the background has become somewhat rubbed and grubby and foxing is noted to the fold over panels. A little foxing to the verso side of the dustwrapper also. Fading of the spine. The authors are both antiquarian booksellers in London and in this delightful text they bring to the reading public such wonderful titles ( and bizarre books ) as -- Geoffrey Pouts' - " Scouts in Bondage ", Jane Arbors' - " The Cypress Garden ", William Batties' -" A Treatise On Madness ", " Frog Raising for Fun and Profit ", and not to forget John Savages' - " The Gay Astrologer ". All books listed within the book are or have been published and are available if one wishes to go searching for them. Digital image available up on request.. First British Edition. Red Boards. Average/Average -- Spine Faded. 8vo - up to 9 ¾" tall - Octavo. Comedy.
