*Recent book description for this title:*
London ,Hutchings & Romer .1882. arr.by David PENTLAND. With an unsigned full colour lithograph cover of seven red coated huntsmen racing and jumping fences and in the foreground three dogs leading the chase. The original song was by John W. Graves and music by William Metcalfe and first sung in 1869.Perhaps as important was Joseph Simpson's portrait of Peel. This version of the song can be dated through a music sellers stamp dated 1882. James Smith who wrote these amended words was responsible for the collection Poems & Ballads, sadly the arranger Pentland remains obscure. The publishers Hutchings & Romer were only located at that address 1877-84.Folio size with music. Paper strip down spine slightly impeding else conditionVG. Unusual illustrated version of song.
