LAST ITEM HELD MATCHING THIS TITLE STATED:

London, D'Almaine & Co. 1855. With a superb monochrome lithograph portrait by John Brandard, of a red Indian maiden waiting by a swift flowing river and nearby the Log Hut and a pot cooking over a fire. The song was inspired by English writer, Mrs Trollope's novel of Mississipi Raftsmen who supply the wood for the steamboats entitled Jonathan Jefferson Whitlaw or Scenes on the Missippi ( 1836).It was considered to be the first anti slavery novel. The lyric writer R. Ryan remains obscure whereas the composer George Alfred Hodson( c1798-1863) has 5 songs listed in Kilgarriff mainly in the 1830's but at least 1 in the 1850's, he also performed songs including his own as he managed his establishments 'The Yorkshire Stingo' and also the Bower Saloon( my thanks to Kurt Ganzl for this ) .Folio size with music. Condition VG.
