London ,Musical Bouquet. c 1849. With a monochrome ½ page illustration probably by Alfred Ashley from the famous opera by Bellini, Sonnambula . Certainly Western used the air Vi Paviso O Lughi Ameni from that opera. This is Musical Bouquet Number 45/6 and is very early, pre Sheard. .Vincenzo Bellini(1802-35) composed three notable operas La Sonnambula, Norma and I Puritani. His work was as popular in England as in his home country Italy and in 1833 he visited England and then France and returned to England ,where he contracted dysentry and died. Charles Sheard purchased the Musical Bouquet series outright from his partner Bingley in 1850 and throughout Victoria's reign Sheard produced this series which ran to almost 9000.This pre dates that sale. Folio size with music. Fractonally trimmed across top title else condition VG.
