Melbourne, Dinsdales. c. 1916. With a mainly brown and white front cover with the chorus inset into a frame and above that the titles and in an oval frame the rather popular singer of the period Violet Trevenyon. Though she is now sadly obscure Trevenyon seemed to specialise in this kind of Australian First World War song. The composer Ridgway is also credited with composing Daddy's in the Dardanelles. He composed this song after hearing that wounded Anzacs in London attending a benefit concert had no songs of their own and also called Coo-ee to each other after the performance by noted Australian opera singer Ada Crossley ( 1874-1929). Folio size with music. Condition VG.
