Volume I has an attractive folding steel-engraved map (one short tear) of New South Wales, with an inset of New Holland, as well as several advertisement leaves at front and rear.In addition to the elements referred to in the title, interesting observations regarding the development of a new and distinctive Australian character, and a valuable record of early medical conditions in the colony. This is effectively a re-issue of the second enlarged edition of 1827. The first edition, also published in 1827, was issued without the map. Very good contents.
