Melbourne: Hallcraft Publishing Company Pty. Ltd., 1952. 96 pages, foreword by Margaret Herron. Illustrated endpapers being a floral design against a green background. Small green illustration on the title page showing a billy boiling, a swag and a tree. At the top of each page there is a small green header illustration. Brown coloured boards with green illustration on the front panel, same illustration as for title page, and green writing on the spine. Rubbing to the spine edges and shelfwear to the lower book edges. Some marks to the top front panel edge and dust marks to both the front and back panels. Dust marks and browning to the paper edges. The front paste down and the rear paste down has become quite faded. Internally the pages are tanned. Plain text dustwrapper, with facsimile of authors writing along with illustrations with black and grey inserts with yellow, black and red writing onthe front panel and black and yelllow on the spine. Rubbing and a very slight chipping to the dustwrapper corners. There are numerous small tears along both the top and bottom dustwrapper edges with associated creaseing along with a 0.25 " tear to the top front edge, a similar tear to the lower dustwrapper edge of the front panel and have 1.5 " tear to the lower rear dustwrapper edge. The background of the dustwrapper has become quite yellowed and grubby. C. J. Dennis died in 1938. This book of 140 verses, published posthumously in 1952, many of which first appeared in the Melbourne "Herald" during C.J.Dennis's association with that paper, is now brought together in book form..
