Spine sl. faded, corners sl. worn, edges and endpapers foxed, two names on fly else v.g., firm copy. A very scarce first-hand account of soldiering with the French Foreign Legion. The author joined the Legion in 1914 at the age of fifteen and a half and, after serving with the British Forces during the Great War, returned to it in 1919. Service in the Dardanelles, Marrakech, and elsewhere in North Africa. First published in London in the same year by Jarrolds, under the title THE MAN WHO LIKED HELL : TWELVE YEARS IN THE FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION.
