As already noted the text is illustrated with 28 black-and-white plates at the rear of the book and a few black-and-white sketches. Photographic cover, showing an example of Neverlandish painting with white background with green, black and, blue writing on the front panel and black and white on the spine. The edges of the book are somewhat scuffed and curled, particularly the front fore edge, and there are some creases the length of the spine. The white background has become dull and rubbed. The paper edges of very slightly brown. The rear corners of the book has become a little creased and the remains of the sticker can be seen on the front panel. Volume 2: -- XXIV, 336 pages, last 2 blank, list of illustrations. This book encompasses 496 black-and-white illustrations of Neverlandish painting. Illustrated front cover, showing are example of paintings within, against the white background with green , black and blue writing on the front panel and black and white on the spine. The book is rubbed, faded and the white background has become somewhat dull. Rubbing and creasing of the book corners and to the book, edges. The remains of the sticker can be seen on the top left-hand corner of the front panel and the book, edges of very slightly brown. These two volumes encompass Charles Elliot Norton lectures of 1947-1948 given by the author.
