London: Phaidon Press, 1948. 384 pages, last blank, foreword by author, chronological table, bibliography, and catalogue. Black-and-white illustrated frontispiece, being reproduction of a self portrait of Tintoretto painted in 1588. The text is illustrated with three tipped in coloured plates and numerous black-and-white reproductions of Tintorettos' paintings and drawings. There are also two multi fold out reproductions, one being of " The Crucifixion " and the other being " Paradise ". Beige coloured boards with dark brown writing on the front panel and spine. Bumping to the head and to the heel of the spine and heavy shelfwear to the lower book edges. There has been wear to all other book edges as well. Bumping to the book corners. Heavy foxing to the cloth of the spine and a little to either side of the spine. Browning and marking to the paper edges and the spine is very slightly cocked. Browning and marking to the endpapers and internal pages are very slightly brown as well. Basically the book is showing its age. A book about the early Renaissance Italian artist Tintoretto.
