LAST ITEM HELD MATCHING THIS TITLE STATED:

New York: Vantage Press, 1955. 376 pages, acknowledgements, foreword by George W. P. Hunt, Governor of Arizona, author's preface. Black-and-white photographic frontispiece, showing " Ed Morrell ( left ) with Jack London in front of London's ' Castle ' on his ' Valley of the Moon ' range at Glen Ellen, California, in 1914 after the fire which destroyed it.". Dark blue coloured boards with gilt writing on the spine. Bumping, small tears and fraying to the head and to the heel of the spine. Bumping, rubbing to the book corners and shelfwear to the lower book edges. Rubbing and discoloration to the front book panel and the gilt writing of the spine has become quite rubbed. Browning and slight foxing to the top paper edges and browning to the other edges. Offset tanning and handling marks to the endpapers and browning to both the endpapers and internal pages. A previous owner has placed the number "493" on the free front endpaper. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing the profiles, in silhouette, of 25 men against a black and brown the background with black and white writing on the front panel and spine. On the rear panel fold over there is a photo of Mildred M. Ward. The dustwrapper is truly atrocious. It is heavily rubbed, faded and sunned. Chipping, with loss to all dustwrapper corners and to the head and to the heel of the spine -- the top 0.25 " of the top spine edge and 0.5 " of the lower. Heavy rubbing along all edges has caused almost the complete disassociation of the front fold over and of the front and rear spine gutters. Heavy creasing and chipping to the top and bottom dustwrapper edges. The autobiography, revised, of Ed Morrell , who in the early 1900s was placed into the American prison system after being convicted of "robbing of the police chief" in California. He survived five years of physical and mental torture eventually to have his pardon. He wrote this book as a plea for prison reform.. Second Edition -- Revised. Blue Cloth. Average/Atrocious. Octavo - up to 9 ¾" Tall. Autobiography.
