A little rubbing to the back panel has occurred. Chidley was an itinerant photographer and artist in Victorian and Edwardian Australia. His confessions not only give us a glimpse of "the strange, pathetic and sometimes terrible lives of himself and the the people he knew". But he is best-known for his bizarre sexual theory, which he promulgated, actively, for the last five years of his life. His gospel of "natural coition, nudity, and a diet of fruit and nuts." He was fined, goaled and harassed by by the powers that be, and eventually he died in 1916 in an insane asylum. But he was praised by that pioneering sex reformer, Havelock Ellis.. First Edition.
