London: Trischler and Company, 1890. VI, 770pp., last two blank, 12 pages of advertisements. Sepia toned frontispiece showing "Flower and Fruit" by Alice Reeve. The text is copiously illustrated by black-and-white illustrations and sepia toned etchings -- done by various artists including, Rudolf Blind, George Lambert ect. Light yellow coloured cloth with gilt decoration and gilt and reading illustration of tree branch in flower on the front panel and spine with maroon and gilt embossed writing on the front panel and spine. Bumping, fraying and rubbing to the book corners and to the head and to the heel of the spine. Cloth of the book has become somewhat grubby and marked. There has been sunning to the spine causing darkening. There is a split in the front spine gutter, measuring 4.5 ". Browning and foxing to the paper edges. The spine is somewhat ' slack'. Offset tanning to the endpapers and on the front finish there is a split running the full length of the book. There is foxing throughout the book, the first few pages in the last few pages of the book a quite heavily foxed, but the internal pages are only slightly foxed. The pages in the block are still firmly bound. This is a hardback edition of a Magazine put out in the late 1800s, predominantly for reading by girls.. Not Stated. illustrated Cloth.
