Bumping to the head and to the heel of the spine and to the book corners. The lower right-hand corner of the front panel of the book has been " chewed on " and there is a small piece missing. There has been a major amount of fading to the spine where the red of the cloth has faded to very pale pink and the gilt writing has faded to almost to being illegible. There are fading spots to both the front and back panels and browning and foxing to the paper edges. Browning and foxing to the endpapers and very light tanning to the internal pages. Gift inscription ( dated Christmas 1929-30 ] on the free front endpaper. Illustrated dustwapper, showing a small coastal town in the foreground and very cityscape in the background against a white background with red and purple writing on the front panel and red and blue on the spine. The dustwapper is rubbed, faded and quite grubby. Rubbing and chipping, with loss, to the dustwapper corners. Chipping to the head and to the heel of the spine again with loss and there are various chips and mixed to the dustwapper edges. Dustwapper now in protective library sleeving. The white background has become quite dull as well. The rear has a tear that runs the full width of the spine approximately 3 " from the lower spine edge.
