Black-and-white photographic frontispiece showing invited readers and speakers. The text is illustrated with a black-and-white line drawing showing "interior of new Chancel, St David's, Hobart. Red coloured boards with black writing on the front panel. The cloth of the boards is textured and consequently this texture has become rubbed, grubby and a little faded. The corners of the book are rubbed and slightly frayed as are the head and the heel of the spine. Browning to the paper edges. Endpapers are brown and the verso side of the front covers have also become slightly brown. Previous owner's name on the free front endpaper. Original bookseller's sticker on the lower lefthand corner of the rear paste down. Internally the pages are very slightly brown and there are some handling marks as well.
