Lepailleur was one of the popular leaders of the 1838 Canadian Rebellion. He was transported to New South Wales in March 1840 and spent 2 years in prison in the parish of Concord, near Sydney. As well as recording his experiences, this journal gives the reader many insights into the convict system as a whole.
