Published most probably by Chappell & Co of London ( c 1853) with a full colour lithograph front cover by John Brandard and printed by M & N Hanhart of Lord Cardigan, Prince Albert, the King of Hanover and Queen Victoria on horseback against a backdrop of exercises by the 42nd Highlanders Regiment and further in the background more troops on maneouvres at Chobham.In fact the Ill. London News for 1853 has engravings of the Queens visit to manouvres at Chobham .The front cover artist was John Brandard (1812-1863) who specialised in Waltz,Polka covers and worked extensively with Michael and Nicholas Hanhart to produce these opulent sheets.D'Albert(1809-1886)although born in Germany,his father was a French Cavalry captain and upon his death,D'Albert and his mother decamped to England. He became very famous as a dancing master and moved to Newcastle upon Tyne. He wrote the standard work Ballroom Etiquette and a large number of Polkas,Quadrilles and Galops and the Sultan's Polka and the Edinburgh Quadrille were especially popular. In later years he moved back to London. Folio size with music. Trimmed for the loss of title and on the bottom for the publishers imprint but not affecting the sumptuous lithograph and else condition good.
