Groves indicates that Peter Hansel (1770-1831) studied composition under Haydn in Vienna in 1791 and lived in Paris between 1802-3 and then returned to Vienna. He was a prolific composer of chamber music with up to 55 string quartets.According to Hopkinson, Nicholas Simrock of Bonn's brother, Henri came to Paris and between 1799-1805 jointly published music with his brother. Henri who played cornet in several orchestras died in 1839. Folio size 1st violin copy . 21pp Small previous owner's ink stamp on front page else condition very good.
