London, Chappell. 1838. Ornate lettered cover plus 5pp of music. The Honourable Mrs. Norton(1808-77) wrote one of the first great songs by a woman in the Victorian eras entitled Juanita. Caroline Norton was the grand-daughter of the playwright Richard Sheridan and was married to a Tory member of Parliament. She also wrote a good many political pamphlets and was a prime mover in the infant custody bill that went through Parliament in 1839. She also wrote The Arab's Farewell to his Favourite Steed (1865)and The Mother's Lament (1840). Condition VG .
