Phaidon Press Ltd, London, 1951. hardcover, 12" x 9", with dust jacket. Previous owner's bookplate and dated signature to ffep. Few foxing spots to to endpapers. Jacket has severe sun fading, and edge wear (short tears, v small gaps), and soiling. VERY GOOD book in FAIR price-clipped dust jacket. Red cloth-bound boards with grey type to spine and front, full-colour frontispiece illustration ('Self-Portrait', 1888), 48 full-colour plates, list of plates at rear - with measurements in inches. Fifty of Vincent Van Gogh's finest paintings in all the splendour and brilliance of their colours: Landscapes, Portraits and Still-lifes. These are his best paintings - some well known, others never shown before in full colour. This was a 'break through' publication fifty years ago.
