Illustrated board covers, 19 photographs (portraits, views), 4 maps, notes, and references. Strzelecki arrived in Australia in 1839 and was first to explore many inland parts of the continent. He named Australia's highest peak Mount Kosciusko, and made a remarkable journey through the Gippsland mountain bush to Melbourne. He tramped Tasmania mostly on foot, collecting geological specimens. This short biography corrects some previously published material.
