Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers, barcode etc.GOOD book in GOOD price-clipped dust jacket. Light-blue cloth-bound boards with gold type to spine, tipped-in b&w photograph ('Harry Morant') as frontis, with 36 examples of the Breaker's verses. 'Breaker' Morant was a swashbuckling cavalier, admired for his genius with horses, his irresponsible good-fellowship, and a gift for writing swinging verses. He went to the Boer War with the South Australian Mounted Rifles, becoming a lieutenant in 1901. Soon after his thirty-sixth birthday he was court-martialled and executed by the British over the killing of Boer prisoners. His court-martial was a shabby business, climaxing in the romantic story which has persisted for over a century. Frank Cutlack, the author of this book, knew Morant personally, albiet briefly. The 'Breaker' Morant story was made into a successful movie with Edward Woodward and Jack Thompson. LOOSELY INSERTED: Three press clippings - 'The Australian' February 1979; 'The Australian' December, 1983; and 'The Age' May 1988 - all dealing with 'Breaker' Morant.
