LAST ITEM HELD MATCHING THIS TITLE STATED:

Ian Novak, publisher, Sydney, Australia, 1960. hardcover, 5½" x 8" (lacking dust jacket). The signature 'J McAuley' appears on the title page [not authenticated as belonging to Australian poet, James McAuley]. Book in VERY GOOD condition. In May 1945, when the Russian and American armies confronted each other at Neufelden on the Elbe river, the locals wished them both to leave. The Russians occupied the author's home and terrorised her family; her husband's paper mill continued to almost function, although equipment had to be 'borrowed' at night and illegal purchases made and paid for. A first-person account of living under Russian occupation.
