Three generations of Polish history (ending at the Second World War), these self-published memoirs are documents of enormous sociological value. A school teacher, Rydel fought twice for Poland, in September 1939 in Warsaw and in 1940 in France, as an ordinary rifleman. Yet his life has been most interesting, and abundantly adventurous (he worked in Europe and America). Originally published as 'Historia Malego Czlowieka' (1966)
