Constable & Co, London - first edition ISBN:009466160X, 1985. hardcover, 6¾" x 9½", with dust jacket. Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers, etc. Barcode excised from ffep. VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket. Colour painting to half-title page (Fotheringhay Castle), full-colour portrait frontis (Richard III circa 1513), 19 b&w illustrations (drawings, photos, family tree etc), references, and index. Richard of Gloucester became King of England in 1483 and ruled for a mere twenty-six months, before being killed at the Battle of Bosworth. He has since been accused of atrocious crimes, including the murder of his brother and his wife as well as political rivals, culminating in the murder of his nephews, the "Princes in the Tower". Readers can see Richard's life and actions here as his contemporaries saw them, and judge for themselves - perhaps he wasn't quite the monster of the later Tudor writers.
