LAST ITEM HELD MATCHING THIS TITLE STATED:

Wentworth Books, Surry Hills, Sydney, 1972. Large format, thick wrappers, 8" x 10¼. Both PARTS & inserts in VERY GOOD condition. PART ONE has 'Fourth Edition' on title-page, and '1972' as publishing date; PART TWO carries '1970' as publishing date. HANDLIST OF PUBLICATIONS of Authors in both volumes - at rear of PART TWO - lists 143 persons. PART ONE has 16 b&w author photographs. This is a valuable anthology of Australian children's writer biographies (mostly self-written), a few interviews, and bare re-writes. Many have already faded from current memory, but there's some gems here - Pamela Travers, Elyne Mitchell, Peg Maltby, Enid Moodie Heddle, et al, and many writers speaking at the dawn of their renown. LOOSELY INSERTED: Two booklets (a) Book of the Year and Picture Book Awards, 1946-1976, 14pps (with hand-written updates to 1980); (b) 'Choosing Books for Children' 8pp, published by Children's Book Council of Victoria.
