John Murray, London - first edition, 1984. hardcover, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", with dust jacket. VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket. Brown cloth-bound boards with gold title to spine, 16 b&w photographs, double-page map on special coloured stock (Drove route], bibliography. Probaly the largest annual livestock migration in the British Isles two hundred years ago was the passage of 150,000 head of Scottish Highland cattle being driven to the Lowlands markets. John & Julia Keay attempted to recreate this 200 mile drive across mountains, streams, and bogs in 1981. This is a highly unusual travel book. Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers, barcode, pocket remnants etc.
