LAST ITEM HELD MATCHING THIS TITLE STATED:
Ayers & James, Sydney, not dated (1940s?). stapled, card covered booklet, 5¼" x 8¼. Short inscription to previous owner, dated 1949, on title page. Pages are a little soiled. Booklet in GOOD condition. This hard-to-find item was written by a New Zealand-born writer who spent his first thirty-two years growing up in New Guineas's "lonely places, and far from the company of children of my own colour. The stories I have written here," he says, "are compiled in my own fashion from native legend and superstition, tinted a little in some places to brighten a spot of dullness, or shaded in others to veil a flare of starkness." Many b&w drawings.
