University of Queensland Press, Brisbane, 1974. hardcover, 8 3/4" x 5 1/2", with dust jacket. GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket. Blood-red cloth-bound boards with black & gold to spine and front with design motif, red endpapers, 64 b&w illustrations, notes, index. Trollope's long, two-volume novel is a study of marriage, and of sexual relationships generally, against a background of agitation for women's rights. The text is a reproduction of the first edition of both volumes, 1869, with initial illustrations included. Excellent notes provide apparent errors in first edition text and substantive variants between this and the author's MS, and a select bibliography. Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers, barcode, pocket etc. Reinforced front hinge; wear to bottom of boards. Packed book weighs 1.5kgs (over 3lbs).
