Black cloth-bound boards with two-colour printing to spine and both covers, full-colour frontispiece (the tapestry), two-colour title page, ten full-colour plates, 73 b&w plates, several b&w drawings in text, and appendices (letters of commission, etc). The Great Tapestry of Coventry Cathedral is the world's largest (74ft x 38ft), commissioned in 1951 and consecrated in 1962. It weighs just over one ton, is woven in one solid piece, and contains over 900 colours - twelve weavers were fully occupied on the weaving for over two years. This book outlines the story from conception, revision, and execution - fully supported with detailed photographic plates.
