Eyre & Spottiswoode (Publishers) Ltd, London - reprint edition, 1961. hardcover, 5¾" x 9", with dust jacket. Ours is a very tired ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers, barcode, etc. Shelf-wear to bottom of boards; dumped corners. Text is complete. GOOD book in GOOD price-clipped dust jacket. Hugh Thomas wrote this book based on intensive first-hand research (primarly sources). He draws heavily on Spanish memoirs which have not appeared in English. On international questions he has made extensive use of German and American Government documents, and has spoken to many of the leaders on both sides, with war correspondents and with people who fought in the war. It is a classic of contemporary history.
