Whitcombe & Tombs Limited, Auckland - first edition, 1935. Hardcover, 7½" x 5" (lacks jacket). Book in GOOD condition. Light-green cloth-bound boards with dark-green type to spine and front cover, photographic portrait ('The Author') as frontispiece, 41 b&w photographs or caricatures, and index. This racy autobiography provides interesting insight into New Zealand and Australiam newspaper publishing in the early twentieth century. The author worked on both sides of the Tasman and had many bohemian friends and drinking mates. The book is highly anecdotal, and concludes with some 60 character portraits of leading Australian and New Zealand writers of the period known (some in-depth; some fleetingly) to Pat Lawlor.
