Angus & Robertson Publishers, Sydney - first edition ISBN 0207149003, 1986. Hardcover, 8¾" x 5½", with dust jacket. VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket. INSCRIPTION on ffep SIGNED BY Richard Walsh, PUBLISHER and dated 21.4.86. Red-pink cloth-bound boards with white type to spine, light-pink endpapers, 8 full-colour plates (all from C J Dennis books), and approx 12 full-page b&w illustrations. Hal Gye (pronounced "Ji") 1888-1967, was probably best-known for his delightful illustrations in the popular books by Australia bush poet, C.J. Dennis; he was, though, a successful writer and poet in his own right, using the psuedonyms 'James Hackston' and 'Hacko'. His 'Father Clears Out' and 'Hole in the Bedroom Floor' are warmly amusing, partly autobiographical books - parts of each are utilised in this present work.
