Allen and Unwin, Sydney - first edition, 1987. hardcover, 9 1/4" x 7 1/4", with dust jacket. Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers, barcode etc.VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket. Dark-brown cloth-bound boards with gold type to spine, light-brown endpapers, photographic portrait as frontis [Henry Readford], 19 maps; genealogical tables for Readford, Hall, Skuthorpe and Forrestor families, 23 b&w photographs, appendix, index. In 1870 Henry Readford stole several hundred cattle and drove them hundreds of miles from Queensland to South Australia. He was arrested, tried and found not guilty. His exploits appeared fictionally in 'Robbery Under Arms' and from then on Readford was identified as 'Starlight', the novel's hero. In real life Readford was a mystrery man and a wanderer, now his whole life is at last revealed. Very interesting book.
